  • Loxley Close. By Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2020-06-18. Revised by … Given its location on the southern outskirts of Barnsdale, it seems likely that the name of the short residential cul de sac Loxley Mount was inspired by Robin Hood's alias. The houses on Loxley Mount are all of fairly recent date, so a 20th (or 21st?) century date seems likely. A side street of Loxley Mount is named Sherwood Close. • Lady Chapel. By Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2013-07-25. • Potovens Lane, formerly Robin Hodo Hill Lane, and perhaps yet earlier: Robin Hood Street. By Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2020-08-15. Revised by … North of the Bradford Road intersection, Potovens Lane was known as 'Robin Hood Hill Lane' in the mid-19th century. The street appears with that name attached to it on a 6" O.S. map of the area published in 1854, based on surveying carried out 1848 to 1851 (see Maps below). In subsequent maps it has its present name. Its former name was suggested by the fact that it crosses Robin Hood Hill. The lane may well have been known as 'Robin Hood Street' in the mid-17th century, see Robin Hood Street Close (Outwood). Gazetteers ⁃ Not included in Dobson, Richard Barrie 1976a, pp. 293-311. • Northowram, in or near which the field named 'Robin Hood' was situated. By Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2020-08-20. Revised by … A field named 'Robin Hood' is mentioned in a 1790 entry in the Wakefield manor court rolls recording the surrender of lands in or near Northowram. The entry (see Records below) includes the names of several other pieces of land: 'the Lees in Northowram', '11 acres of land, called the Ing, Little Ing, First and Second Lower Field, Lee Wood, Lower, Middle and Upper Brow, Star Field, Robin Hood and Field Next to Robin Hood'. It has not proved possible to locate any of these with any certainty. All that can be said, therefore, is that 'Robin Hood' was situated in or near Northowram.
