Hughes, Professor. 'Notes on Limblow Hill, near Royston, Cambridgeshire', Proceedings of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society, vol. 6, part 3 (1891), pp. 395-96.

The identification of 'Professor Hughes' as Thomas McKenny Hughes (1832–1917) is based on his being a profssor of geology, having an interest in archaeology and being a member of the Council of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society.[1]
