Robin Hood Wood barely deserves the name of wood, consisting of just two small stands of trees 300 or 400 m NE of Holden Lane and [[Robin Hood's Stone (Silsden)|Robin Hood's Stone]] about halfway between West Norton and Silsden. The first reference to this place-name that I have found so far is the 6" O.S. map of the area published in 1909, based on surveying done in 1906. Robin Hood Wood barely deserves the name of wood, consisting of just two small stands of trees 300 or 400 m NE of Holden Lane and Robin Hood's Stone about halfway between West Norton and Silsden. The first reference to this place-name that I have found so far is the 6" O.S. map of the area published in 1909, based on surveying done in 1906. The 1853 map indicates a few trees but includes no name for them.
A PDF leaflet from Bradford Metropolitan District County (2010)[1] describing a walking route in the area, has an excellent map on which the wood and the nearby Robin Hood's Stone are both indicated.
