'Robinshood marsh' is listed as a field-name in the 1839 tithe award schedule for Dengie, Essex, with Captain Henry Fanshaw as landowner, James Malden as occupier, 'Pasture' as state of cultivation, and an area of 10 acres, 2 roods, 4 perches (Template:AcreRoodPerchToM2 m2).[1]
The field, situated immediately NW of Middlewick Windfarm[2] retains the shape and size it had when the tithe award map was prepared. As far as I know, the form 'Robinshood' is unique. Is it a mistake for 'Robinhoods'? In view of Robin Hood's connection with May games it is perhaps worth noting that the village immediately south and southeast of Robinshood Marsh is named Mayland.
