Robin Hood Well in Mawdesley was located immediately east of Blue Stone Lane, c. 50 m south of the Robin Hood Inn.

The well was mentioned in a geological survey published in 1875. Henry Taylor noted in a brief account of the well in 1899 that he was "told that a constant supply of beautiful water runs over from the top flagstone". However, some time between 1957 and 2015 it was reported "now disused and covered by a modern concrete slab. An old stone brough [read: trough] is lying nearby". Whereas Taylor "could not gather any local traditions" relating to it in 1899, in 1957 was noted a "local tradition that Robin Hood watered his horse here".
