Robin Hood's Cave is listed by A. H. Smith without source reference or date.[1] The earliest reference I have found is a 6" O.S. map dated 1909, based on a 1906-1907 revision.[2] The cave is not indicated on an earlier map based on surveying carried out in 1891.[3] Mr Keith Daniel of Wetherby in 2006 reminisced about childhood expeditions to Jackdaw Crag by the Wharfe in 1958 and later. "There's Devil's Path, Devil's Chimney and there used to be Robin Hood's Cave down there too, that you used to build rafts to get to."[4]
