HRN stands for 'highest reorder number'. The term is used in characterizing issues of Classics Illustrated comic books (US and non-US editions), which usually carry a list of previously published issues on the back cover or inside front or back cover. In principle the HRN of a first printing is exactly one lower than the number of the issue in question, whereas reprintings tend to have an HRN that is equal to the number of issues that had been published at the date of the reprinting in question. Classics Illustrated were published in about a dozen countries, and there are probably exceptions to these rules. Normally an HRN is a simple number, but sometimes it is prefixed with "WA". This is the case when the rear cover lists the series The World Around us instead of Classics Illustrated.
