The earliest record I have found of the Robin Hood pub in Hatfield Woodhouse is a 6" O.S. map of the area published in 1853, based on surveying done in 1849-53 (see Maps section below). According to a newspaper article published in October 2009, the pub had then remained empty for several years. After Hatfield Woodhouse residents campaigned to save the pub, major renovations were announced by its manager Andrew Hempsall in April 2009. "The new Robin Hood was set to contain a bar, community area and dining room", but on 14 October 2009 the pub was severely damaged in a fire. An arson probe was underway as of that date.[1]
