'Robinhoodstreteclose' is mentioned in Wakefield Court Rolls for 1650. A. H. Smith treats this as the earliest reference to a locality which is referred to in 1657 and later as [[Robin Hood Hill (Outwood)|Robin Hood Hill]],<ref>{{:Smith, Albert Hugh 1961a}}, pt. II, p. 158.</ref> but it seems unlikely these two name could have applied to the same locality. They probably refer to distinct if adjacent localities.
