The former (?) Robin Hood Field.
Peeping into the former (?) Robin Hood Field from Lower Robin Hood Lane / Google Earth Street View.

By Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2017-01-21. Revised by Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2022-04-22.

Robin Hood Field in Helsby is first recorded in 1844. It was named after the Robin Hood pub which was until recently located on its south-western corner, the intersection of Chester Road and Lower Robin Hood Lane.

The field is listed in the 1844 tithe award for Helsby with a Henry Haspell as owner, John Lewis, Jr., as occupier, state of cultivation as 'Pasture', and an area of 6 acres, 31 roods and 9 perches (55846.62 m2).[1] Like several other fields in the imemdiate vicinity it was named after the pub. It occupied an area corresponding in present day terms roughly to that bounded by Lower Robin Hood Lane, Sherwood Grove, Parkfield Drive and Chester Road (A56).
