It is shown (but not named) on 6" O.S. maps of Royston from the period 1894-1949 on the south side of Low Common Lane as the last field but one before the lane takes a 90° turn NNW to end at Common Lane Farm. The tithe award lists the land as arable, its owner and occupier as John Ball. The plot is listed as "Humple & Robin Hood". There was at the time a footway running nearly parallel with Low Common Lane across this and adjacent plots. Did it perhaps divide this plot into Humple and Robin Hood?

The present Warren Walk forms the southern boundary of the area that was once named Humple & Robin Hood, while Arundel Gardens are immediately west of it, and Wellfield Gardens at its eastern boundary. Low Common Lane, its northern boundary, is now simply Common Lane. The [[Robin Hood (Royston, Barnsley) (2)|other field known as Robin Hood]] was located about 400 m SE of Humple & Robin Hood, its name being preserved in that of [[Robin Hood Avenue (Royston, Barnsley)|Robin Hood Avenue]] which runs along its western boundary.
