Approximate location of Robin Hood's Well.

By Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2014-07-26. Revised by Henrik Thiil Nielsen, 2017-12-16.

Robin Hood's Well (Halton Gill), located high on the Pennines, is noted without any source reference in the English Place-Name Society's volume on the West Riding of Yorkshire.[1] The earliest occurrence of the name I have found is on a 6" O.S. map published in 1851.[2]
