Marko Kraljević or Marko Mrnjavčević (Serbian Cyrillic: Марко Мрњавчевић), the de jure King of Serbia 1371-95 and de facto ruler of a territory in western Macedonia centered on the town of Prilep, known as Prince Marko (Serbian Cyrillic: Краљевић Марко, Kraljević Marko) and King Marko (Serbian Cyrillic: Краљ Марко; Bulgarian: Крали Марко; Macedonian: Kрaле Марко) in South Slavic oral tradition, in which he became a major character during the period of Ottoman rule over the Balkans.
