The jurors present that John Robhood [1], who lately died, held from the lord a mes-
suage and 14a. of villein land, and the lord had as heriot a mare, worth ½ mark.
His sons, Robert, Nicholas, Peter, Walter, Richard and John, villeins by blood,
are his nearest heirs because the tenements are partible between males by the cus-
tom [of the manor].65 They came and received the said tenements from the lord to
hold to them and their heirs, by services etc., and they have entry by the heriot,
pledge for services Nicholas Patel.[1]

The John Robhood concerned in this entry is the first of that name known from the court rolls. One of his sons was also named John.[2] Lock's brackets.
