Robin Hood's Bush once grew here!

Robin Hood's Bush is indicated on 6" O.S. maps of the area immediately NW of Scarborough published 1854 to 1910, but by 1926 or 1927 the bush had gone (see maps listed in Maps section below). A Google search on 19 June 2016 yielded not a single result for this place-name. It did, however, show that variants of the proverbial expression "to go round by Robin Hood's barn" include "to go all the way around Robin Hood's Bush". If this is not a 1960's US neologism,[1] perhaps this variant of the expression suggested the place-name?
