An irregularly shaped field on what is now the eastern outskirts of Conisbrough was known as Plumpton Park in the mid-19th century.

The area now occupied by the residential streets Valley View and Ealand Way on the eastern outskirts of Conisbrough was once a field named Plumpton Park / Google Earth Street View.

In the Gest, King Edward is exasperated at noticing the scarcity of deer in Plumpton Park after Robin and his men have been poaching there during their stay with the knight. We should almost certainly take this to be in Lancashire, but it is perhaps worth noting that "Plumpton Park" occurs as the name of an irregularly shaped field on what is now the outskirts of Conisbrough, c. 110 m south of River Don, in the Tithe Award for Conisbrough (1839 and 1860).

The field occupied an area roughly corresponding to that of the present Valley View and Ealand Way, two residential streets. It is listed as plot 357 in the Tithe Award, its owners were William Darley (1839) and Andrew Montagu (1860), occupiers Richard Auty (1839) and Jonathan Kitchen (1860). It had an area of 1 acre and 1 rood (5058.57 m²) and its state of cultivation was given as "Arable" (1839, 1860). The plot corresponds roughly to the field numbered 372 on the early 25" O.S. maps listed below.
